Summer Berries with Buttery Biscuits {Chez Panisse Recipe}


I found the most beautiful wild strawberries at the farmers' market the other day, which inspired me to prepare the recipe for Strawberry Shortcake Biscuits from "Chez Panisse Fruit" by Alice Waters. The biscuits are light, flaky, buttery and just slightly sweet, and wonderful served warm with whipped cream. It's amazing how something totally simple can be so delicious! 
Recipe for Shortcake Biscuits
from "Chez Panisse Fruit" by Alice Waters

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 big pinch of salt
4 teaspoons sugar
2 teaspoons of baking powder
6 tablespoons of unsalted butter
11 tablespoons of cream

Directions:
1.) Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

2.) Combine the flour, salt, sugar and baking powder.

3.) Cut pieces of butter into the flour mixture and work together with your hands or with a pastry blender.

4.) Stir in the cream until the mixture comes together.

5.) Place the dough on a lightly foured surface and roll out to 1/2 thick. 

6.) Cut into round, square or triangular biscuits.

7.) Bake for about 15 to 20 minutes, until the biscuits are golden.
